After more than forty years, Chrissie Hynde is still grinding it out, showing no signs of the strains of life (her voice is just slightly deeper now).
A new album called’ Relentless!’ is coming out September 1st – just a few months away. Meantime, Hynde and band have released the single “Let the Sun Come In,” which you can listen to below.
I’m hearing a bit of the chimey guitars from original guitarist James Honeyman-Scott, but a heavier bottom end than they had back then. I was lucky enough to see the guys in the summer of Nineteen Eighty-Four (Pete Farndon and Honeyman-Scott had died fairly recently) Martin Chambers was on drums, of course.
The Waterboys opened and were amazing.
